1)If you're visiting overnight, Taksim Square is a good place to stay. It's a great central point for visiting the city, with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops nearby
2)For incredible views, head to the Galata Bridge or down to the waterfront for sunset; it's absolutely magical
3) Be prepared for the dress codes if you want to visit places like the Blue Mosque - not to be missed, it's stunning! - then you will need to make sure you're covered correctly. You can borrow items, but taking your own is probably more sanitary.
